Anger is just a cowardly extension of sadness. It's a lot easier to be angry at someone than it is to tell them you're hurt.

A void in my chest was beginning to fill with anger. Quiet, defeated anger that guaranteed me the right to my hurt, that believed no one could possibly understand that hurt.

I blame every juror who let [Avila] go, every juror who sat on that trial and believed this man over those little girls,

It is ridiculous that the media doesn't pick up every story where a child disappears from their home. It's horrible. But at the same time, without those stories that do make it ... this wouldn't even be in our consciousness. So whatever the reason, I'm grateful because the level of national awareness is higher than it's ever been.
