These were not abused animals. They are affectionate. They come to you. They love to be handled.

Rena takes our hardest cases. You can't foster these dogs with just anyone. She knows how to work with them and ease their fears through touch.

Things happen in very mysterious ways. Christmas is a hectic time for us. We had just gotten a break when we could all sit down and then the phone rang. It was Manatee County Animal Services telling us they had confiscated 24 poodles and asking if we could help.

I'll still be working with rescue groups in Southern Illinois, and be able to move some of the animals into rescue groups. And help find homes for them.
