They didn't have college scholarships for women. Had they done that at the time, I may have stayed on for another two Olympics, but the opportunities were not available to women that they have today.

I've always been a creative speller and never achieved good grades in school. I graduated from high school but didn't have the opportunity to attend college, so I did what young women my age did at the time - I married.

We want to get them career-oriented. That doesn't mean they can't go on to college.

What we found is that there is a whole network of people who are college age and older, who are fairly well educated and are looking for an alternative to what's on pop radio. They are into books, movies, and go to cappuccino bars instead of alcohol bars-they are actually a lot like me.
