They don't have the resources to do that nor, unless we get that supplemental (federal) money, will (they ever) have the resources to do it.

That's going to come nowhere close to what needs to be done.

Our (congressional) delegation is going to follow up with the other agencies to make sure that what happened with HUD doesn't happen again.

Just look at the debris removal. Look at all the stuff that's been removed and think about what it was in the days after the storm around here. It looked like a bomb had exploded.

I'm encouraged by the federal government's efforts to pre-position resources to prepare for Rita's landfall. Having said that, it is the state and local leaders who know best what Texas will need, so we will ensure that the federal government is an effective partner and provides the necessary support and resources.
