They have very little leverage to the oil price.

The market is no longer straightforwardly cheap, but everything depends on oil prices.

This has certainly been an exceptional year. The index surged to record highs that no one had expected. High oil prices played a pivotal role in the market's magnificent run, as they did in stock markets in neighboring oil-rich Gulf States.

Our message is clear: you will not be safe until you withdraw from our land, stop stealing our oil and wealth and stop supporting the corrupt rulers.

If you want your energy bills to go up, you should support an ever greater dependence on foreign oil, because the rate of new discoveries is declining as demand in China and India is growing, and the price of oil and thus the price of coal will go sky high.

Now that the baseline of demand has returned and (oil) prices returned to around $20 to $21 a barrel, the environment is such that there will be a return to exploration, and Schlumberger will be a big beneficiary.
