This district has been in the forefront of this initiative. We want to have a public event to let people see what we are doing.

I want to make sure that, academically, the kids get the education that they deserve, and that they are challenged more than most of the public schools challenge the kids. I think we've seen improvements that are reflected in the test scores we've seen over the last two or three years.

Helping people, feeding and shelter, that's the easy part. The challenging part is what do we do to get them back on their feet again.
