The current hunting regulations are established to maximize hunting opportunity while maintaining high quality hunting experiences. We are able to expand hunting opportunities based on the success of Michigan's wild turkey restoration program.

Most guys will just go deer hunting, but if they see a bear and there's an opportunity, they'll take it. It's basically a conservation thing. It's something that has to be done to control the number of bears.

I was honored to have the opportunity to spend two solid days competing with these outstanding athletes. I was definitely the rookie, but know that I gained invaluable experience in the art of competing while pitted against such experienced competitors.

That's the kind of thing that gives hunting a bad name, and makes our ability to use hunting as an effective population management tool much less effective.
