This is a hard time for the city, a hard time for the council and a hard time for the mayor. I'd much rather be mayor when I was than right now.

The hard core group of the city council has done it again, ... They've succeeded in another bank robbery of the taxpayers. It appears the voters are going to have to speak sometime in the future. It does appear at this time that the only way to get control of these people's car allowance, salary and fringe benefits is by a public initiative in the year 2007.

It sounds as though the city is really pitching in in support of the ordinance that the council passed to address this problem,

up close when I was in the City Council.

To us that was the last straw and we started attending City Council meetings asking the officials and the builder to take responsibility,

The image of St. Helena is inaccurate. We sometimes say we know the city better than the City Council because we've ... hung out with some of the craziest people and heard some of the deepest, darkest secrets. This town isn't as pristine as it thinks it is.
