This is actually kind of a surprise. If I would have voted, I would voted for (NIC women's basketball coach) Chris Carlson, because he had a fantastic year. I give all the credit to the players on the field.

Since she and coach (Bert) McLaughlin got there, they have been a basketball program. Before, you never had to scout them. In the last four years, they have turned into a force you had to worry about. She showed the way for the rest of them.

Lindsey is part of a group that has come in and changed the face of women's basketball here. She's a great young woman and a super teammate.

We came out of the half and just played some good solid basketball.

The biggest problem that I see in officiating is in basketball, with everybody going to three-man crews. Soon there will be three-man crews for every game, both boys and girls. Let's say there are 200 varsity games in the state on a given night. That means you need 200 more officials.

We've got to focus on two things: taking care of the basketball and getting out of the situation of letting our offense dictate our defense. Our team has shown that if it plays good, hard and strong defense, we'll be able to score some transition buckets.
