This is all about telling students that someone cares. I want to be that link between the creative individual and the resources they need to carry them through.

We must find creative ways to re-energize students and get them to be prolific readers.

There's a certain level of disrespect on campus toward African-American females.

I was fortunate to come from a family that never had those problems. My parents were able to fully support me, and so did Charles Martin. I can't just be here and see what's going on, and not do anything.

Some kids just don't have anyone in their life who is pushing them into college or scholarships, supporting them -- or even making sure they get up in time to go to school.

Hopefully, a message is getting out to students that they're developing their lifestyle patterns today. We certainly try and get that message out ... and we think it's important to take care of the physical side of things as well as the intellectual side of things.
