This is all going to depend on how the state budget works and what other issues arise. We wanted to raise the issue now so they know, and maybe there will be a bill within a couple years.

Students will keep paying that fee to continue making South Dakota competitive. We need more of a boost.

Lots of people argue that it is cheaper to live in South Dakota and that should be a trade off. We recruit on a national level, and cost of living is something applicants generally don't consider.

We haven't had any sort of formal proposal but are concerned that we may lose good candidates to higher paying jobs.

Today however, a new generation must arise that will take their works further.

Union issues by and large are payroll issues, which are very visible in the state budget and in turn make it easier to demonize. But it's a very one-sided argument to attack labor as if there is no such thing as corporate contributions.
