This is the biggest decision I've ever been asked to make since I've become a board member. Kids . . . will be impacted in a dramatic way, and I don't want to do anything to help one group at the harm of another.

Well, it makes me want to be 5 years old all over again.

It's a lot of money. And I think it's money that should be well spent.

Was this a betrayal, or was it an act of courage? Perhaps both. Neither one involves forethought: such things take place in an instant, in an eyeblink. This can only be because they have been rehearsed by us already, over and over, in silence and darkness; in such silence, such darkness, that we are ignorant of them ourselves. Blind but sure-footed, we step forward as if into a remembered dance.

I think I made the best decision for myself, my wife and my kids. Hopefully I will play two years and hang up my jersey.
