This virus is not yet adapted to humans, it is not capable of human-to-human transmission and until that happens this will not be a pandemic strain.

The risk to human health, to public health, at this stage is minimal.

There is no transmission from human to human so far with a mutation of the virus. We are not there at the moment, but it is the responsibility for the WHO to look at this. . . . There is no reason to panic.

If they follow these guidelines the risk is basically nonexistent.

AZT has been shown to prevent transmission of the virus to unborn children. There's always a chance that HIV won't transmit and that some of those being treated might now have contracted HIV anyway, but even if women aren't compelled to take it there's no excuse not to make it available.

Of course, screening for HIV did essentially eliminate the transmission of this virus by transfusions.
