This was a big win for us. I thought our kids did a great job playing wire-to-wire and working their way back into the game.

We knew we had to contain Thompson's quarterback. They gave us a great effort defensively.

When he was in his late 60s, he was still beating us young kids who thought we were hot stuff, but was still nice enough to work with us and help us along. So I always had it in the back of my mind that there was this Zen kind of philosophy, this martial arts aspect to fencing.

I thought this would be a tough year for us. We had a lot of new kids and it took longer than I thought for them to pick up our style. But we came together at the right time. Last year, I was more nervous because it was our first time. This year, I was more nervous that we would make the right plays.

I'm nothing but proud of our kids. Nobody gave us a chance. I'm sure everyone thought it was going to be a 35-40-point game. There are no moral victories; I just feel good about how we played and the effort we gave. We've made a lot of strides.

I never thought kids would come and pay us to not have sex -- and then tell us how much they like it.
