Those experiences made me aware of the grief process and helped me to recognize how
important that is for the families that are left behind,

The weird, weird thing about devastating loss is that life actually goes on. When you're faced with a tragedy, a loss so huge that you have no idea how you can live through it, somehow, the world keeps turning, the seconds keep ticking.

Joy comes, grief goes, we know not how

The stress and tragedy that comes with the immediate shock of being notified that you've lost someone you love is one of the most trying times for any family,

There are times that are trying. They're difficult, ... There
are times when he has to be away for special occasions. But he continues to put family
first, although he may not be present. He stays in touch. He celebrates when he is here,
and we communicate. That's a very big thing. Family is a high priority for
him.
