The flames are intense. [Firefighters] are doing the best they can to protect property, putting themselves in extreme danger. The winds and the terrain are making things worse.

The strikers' actions were violent and Solidarity is in possession of photographs showing the extent of the danger. The security fence was pulled down and strikers threatened to burn down the building.
