To go indie is a thing. But to put an album in the stores, you need a distribution label.

We released it on our own label, so it wasn't really a wide distribution but for our own little humble operation, we were very happy with the results, ... But a lot of people have asked me what I've done lately. And when I say I had an album out the last couple of years, they actually didn't know that.

All you needed was a couple of instruments and a few chords and you could be on an indie label.

You need to know when to surrender the album.

Rappers aren't the really rich ones. We all have nice houses with studios and cars, but you need a piece of someone's business to be super wealthy.

What is shown is distributed in stores in malls around the country. Designers really have very limited distribution. And they have to work so far in advance. Often they are far ahead of where the consumer is. The consumer can look at that and fantasize and try to find a version of it locally. But these clothes will be widely available in their city and neighborhood stores. We're talking about [labels such as] BCBG, French Connection, Sean John, Rocawear, Kenneth Cole.
