To me she was flawless. She wants us to remember her as a caring mother, a devoted wife. She would want us to take solace in the fact that we'll see her again, somewhere, sometime.

Maggie literally saved my life that semester.

When Dan called and asked me to prepare a eulogy for Maggie, I said yes, because there is nothing in the world I wouldn't do for Maggie. But then, the weight of the task hit me. Maggie was a very complex woman. She was my closest friend. She was my inspiration, my role model for 50 years.

Against her natural inclination, ... Joyce held his large hands in hers like a caring mother. 'I'll kiss it and make it better,' she said in a soothing voice, kissing both hands. Then, more firmly: 'I think you can go to Europe now, Thelonious.' He got up and went to the airport.

There is no one I have ever known who personified more the loving, caring universal mother figure. She was always studying nutrition, child care issues ... and constantly looked for ways to better her care of either her own children or the ones she sat for.

She was a loving, caring person, and a wonderful mother. She will be missed.
