Unfortunately, we have a history with hurricanes. We have a fairly standard operating process.

This was a citizen who had gone to render aid to somebody who needed help. It cost him his life. We owe him a responsibility to go back and make it safe so it doesn't happen to someone else.

In North Carolina, we are no stranger to hurricanes, but hopefully, federal funding will remain in place.

Basically we are just monitoring the storm and if it does come our way, we feel we are ready.

It is rather tragic, as I look back upon legislative history for the past 20 years, that there has not been more appraisal, that there has not been more careful assessment of the things which we have set in motion in the legislative branch. That is one particular reason why I think there ought to be an automatic time limit.

MUM has a history of working on issues of restorative justice for 32 years. What we do specifically is the re-entry piece and specifically this project, which is called 'The Journey Home.' We work with housing, employment, support and treatment for formerly incarcerated men and women.
