Usually I like to have them, but going drum-less pushes everything in a new direction and makes it easier to keep things sounding different.

It's harder to play drums than guitar, physically. I'm always kind of on the edge. I guess that's how I play everything: on the edge of my ability.

With the way everything's going now and the way that technology is going, you can do a lot of things with a lot of different new materials.

I enjoy having some boundaries to work within. That's why I generally don't like alternate tunings and stuff like that. I like the boundaries of regular tunings.

How often do you think we write our own ending before the story is even finished? How often do we give up on ourselves when our lives are just starting? Things get hard and we immediately back away and assume that means we're going in the wrong direction, doing the wrong thing. If anything, when the waters get thick, that's our sign to keep going

I don't have a big career plan. I just like to see how things come out, and I just try to keep going in different directions.
