We are also working closely with the (city) police, and we notified the school principals about Monday's incident.

Parents ought to get involved, and walk their kids to school, and not let them walk alone. There were some concerned parents at a PTA meeting in Northeast El Paso (Wednesday night), but we told them that their kids are safe at school. The campuses are still the safest place for them.

As far as I know, the little girl (in Monday's attack) is OK physically and emotionally. This incident reminded me immediately about Alexandra Flores case. I was very concerned and sad that this happened.

I had to tell the police officer to call for an ambulance. I looked at my son and I told him I was sorry.

All those backpacks are still in the school, all throughout the school, and there are briefcases and boxes, ... (Police) are using X-ray machines and everything else they can to X-ray literally thousands of backpacks, boxes, briefcases, anything that could house an explosive device.

Formerly, police would stay outside the school and wait for other officers to arrive. Now, the first police officer who arrives goes in and looks for the gunman.
