We are deeply concerned for every person affected by the heat, and we sincerely hope they are back on their feet and back to enjoying the Jamboree soon.

Criminal background checks are not perfect and occasionally there's a problem. One child abused is one too many.

The needs change. Sometimes Scout camps that were once outside of town are swallowed up by sprawl, or they are no longer conveniently located.

We didn't have any hint of any criminality. This is accidental, and we're going to look into ways to prevent accidents and make all scouting events as safe as possible.

We recognize that a growing portion of our population isn't Caucasian and isn't suburban, A lot of the dads who come from different countries don't have an experience with the Boy Scouts of America, so we have to explain to the parents what we do. We're also working very hard in places like the inner city. A lot of times we have to hire a scoutmaster, maybe a college student, and pay him a stipend to lead a troop.

Thank God he's found. The boy's safe, and that's what's important.
