We are happy that Mobutu has agreed to come and negotiate one and only one thing: his departure from power.

These are not struggles to get power, these are not struggles to control the capital. These are struggles to bring fundamental changes in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Yesterday, our positions were heavily attacked by Angolan and Zimbabwean warplanes and the result was that hundreds of people were killed -- mainly men, women and children living in surrounding villages.

Our understanding is that we are going to the boat to accept Mobutu's resignation, nothing less, nothing more. Wednesday will determine whether we make a soft landing in Kinshasa or a tough military entry.

We believe the solution to this problem is a political solution.

The end of the war will be on Sunday, when Mobutu decides to leave.
