We are strongly committed to bringing everything together for Hong Kong, including for agriculture,

There is progress in agriculture, even though we are still looking for further commitments from others. However, this progress is not matched in industrial goods or services. This lack of balance is a real problem and points to the ground we need to make up at Hong Kong.

Simply demanding more in agriculture...does not add up to a serious negotiation,

I do not believe it will be helpful to the (WTO) talks to make a further offer on agriculture, because this would simply further unbalance the negotiations,

I believe many of you are aware of the use of modern biotechnology in the fields of medicine, agriculture, mining and energy as well as industry.

The Commission is considering making an offer on the agriculture negotiations but no decision has been taken. There will be no move today.
