Over the past three weeks U.S. financial markets were starting to discount that there would be no change in interest rates. Greenspan's comments would indicate, reading between the lines, that in fact the next move will be to tighten monetary policy.

We expect no change in interest rates. The market has been factoring in better interest rates for the last four months.

The key variable that people need to focus on is what happens in the U.S. economy. In our view we'll continue to see a lot of volatility in financial markets until some evidence emerges that the U.S. economy is slowing down.
