We do fundamentals like shooting, passing, dribbling and defense. As soon as we can, we get into game situations so they can become familiar with them.

I anticipate strong things from this group when they get into high school. The eighth-graders and sixth-graders are strong, too.

It's a challenge, because we typically have one week of practice before Christmas and then one week before we get into our games. The kids improved significantly throughout the season. It's always a challenge for us because there are so many other things to do in Steamboat.

You've got the place all to yourself. I was out paddling about two-three weeks ago. You don't hear anything but your blade hitting the water. You don't hear any traffic noise at all.

On the instances when we did get behind their defense, (Runion) made several excellent saves.

It was nice to see our defense step up like this and it helped that Kevin Donovan was up to the task in goal.
