We feel like we are making a little bit of history in the bay area with Cheryl. And it's particularly gratifying that it coincides with the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday week and Dunedin's diversity week celebration.

She just naturally evolved into our chairperson position.

You can just see the professionalism in everything that Cheryl does.

She immediately immersed herself in the chamber and took different leadership roles at the committee level.

A lot of history has already been forgotten, and it's hard to get people to fight for something they don't even know is being lost. The visitors from Virginia or from Florida or Japan or wherever don't realize the opportunity that's not here for them that was there for them in 1992.

Today there is a lack of sense of history about how diverse this decade was. There was incredible diversity working in different styles, working side by side.
