We have five core kids who have been there before, but four young kids in their first year of varsity. They're learning as they go. It's just part of the process.

We've had trouble giving up the big inning. It's been our undoing all year. We've struggled with consistency, and we've got to learn how to finish. But our kids don't quit. I think that's going to pay dividends by the end of the year.

The positive on this team is that they're never out of it because they swing the bat so well.

Travis did a great job after stepping into a tough situation. It was his best outing of the year.

It makes you tear up a bit just to see that the kids can do something for you. There's one resident who knew that I did not have breakfast, lunch or dinner yesterday. At 10 at night, she was shoving crackers in my pocket telling me to keep my strength up as we were walking through here. I made her take them back, but they try and give back as well too.

Our players and staff learn more than the kids do.
