We have so much discrimination in this world - colour, race, creed, all of these things - and there is an issue here that the right of marriage in the civil law is not extended to same-sex couples.

I have not supported same-sex marriage. I have supported civil partnerships and contractual relationships.

It is not discrimination to treat different things differently.

I have not been animated in my life to fight against race and sex discrimination simply because of my own identity. That would mean that one must be South African to fight apartheid, or a poor white in Appalachia to fight poverty, or Jewish to fight anti-Semitism. And I just reject that conception of how struggles should be waged.

But the fact that same-sex marriage is still an issue is insane. Thinking love knows a sex is ridiculous.
