We have some big kids and a kid that can throw the ball, so every time we get a throw from 40 yards out, we try to put it in the box and let our trees go after it.

We were on top of them for the first five minutes, and I think our guys thought it was going to be like last game, that we were going to score at will. But it's not like that. They're the number three team in the state, and they're there for a reason.

We were brilliant on defense, and that's what won us the game.

They boys were fired up from the start. We were very happy to get that goal.

We always try to come out of the gates hard. We want to put away teams in the first 20 minutes, and we may not have done it with goals, but with the way we played, we wanted to let them know we were there from the first whistle.

It's a brilliant idea. With a few exceptions, most kids (in high school) don't have direction in life and haven't developed a passion yet, except for video games and computers. Fire training is so hands-on and so physical that, for a lot of kids, it's an eye- opener. If they can start developing a passion at 14, 15 or 16 and if it's done right, you can really cause a lifelong love of the fire service.
