We have to be careful that we're managing our money properly. This isn't free money but they've come to us with a proposal where we can do some things and save some money. I'm interested to hear what they have to say.

I understand a property owner's position to want to maximize their assets. The fact that we cannot today deliver the amount of water that Big Wave wants is not my problem. It's their problem. Under Cal-Am they had the same access to water as they have now. Frankly, I'm tired of people putting words in my mouth that don't come out of it.

We are aggressively pursuing an end to the moratorium. We've spent millions towards that goal. I don't see how someone can equate that activity with being anti-growth.

We got lucky that all this money came to us. I don't think the president can possibly understand that.

I will judge the amount of money they've charged us by the end result. If it turns out this wasn't a wise choice, this is a two-year contract and we can always re-evaluate.

Instead of spending all this money trying to stop us in the American Legion, let's take that money to the high school and teach kids not to smoke. Eventually it will just go away — like cars that don't start below zero. We're probably the last generation.
