We on this continent should never forget that men first crossed the Atlantic not to find soil for their ploughs but to secure liberty for their souls.

Those who won our independence believed liberty to be the secret of happiness and courage to be the secret of liberty.

And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free. And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
