We try to recycle those components because they contain toxic materials that we don't want in the landfill.

I recycle because I don't like the idea of my trash just going into a landfill and being buried and staying forever.

This is not a substitute for a statewide comprehensive system to collect and recycle electronic products. They do contain materials that should not be treated as part of the regular refuse stream.

We're seeing all kinds of boxes, cardboard, bags, wrapping paper and packaging materials, and soon we'll see an increase in yard waste when people start taking their Christmas trees down. We have an influx of garbage every Christmas. Our truck drivers are hauling the containers as fast as they can.

Hazardous materials or toxic materials are a real threat.

We both like the older houses and old materials, and we hate to see them go to the landfill. We thought we'd give this a try.
