We voted to make it so that people who are registered domestic partners, members of civil unions or gay marriages from other jurisdictions, will now be recognized as registered New York city domestic partners,

The wedding took place in Vermont, where they have legalized gay civil unions, and I married a woman.

I don't think it's a great leap to go from civil unions to gay marriage - I may be in the minority in believing that.

I certainly support civil unions.

Marriage is a sacred religious institution ordained by G-d between a man and a woman. Government should have no say in revising its definition.. ...But if Gays want to have a "Civil Union" as a domestic expression of their relationship entitling them to the same rights and privileges under the law, which they should, ....please don't get in their way. The main objection I have is when people fail to make the distinction.

I am for registered civil partnerships.
