We want the citizens of Gainesville to be comfortable in City Hall. But there may be individuals who do not have the best interests of city employees and visitors at heart.

Groups feeding the homeless at the Downtown Plaza has had unintended consequences. There are so many folks clustered in downtown - it's becoming a crisis.

The commission may direct (staff) to explain alternatives to the public and that's certainly the commission's prerogative. But the whole concept (of) our form of government is that the elected officials, who don't have to be experts, represent the public and make the policy decisions.
