We want to work with partners much more broadly than ever before. If the community is better benefited by them running a shelter than us, they will do so.

This community will have to work very, very hard to find someone to fill his shoes. They will have to search very hard.

We're also going to teach them how to dress for work so that eventually they can upgrade the status of their jobs. We're trying to make (this program) completely well-rounded.

It was the Red Cross that found this problem. We put into effect these call centers to speed up delivery of support to people that needed it. As part of that, we put into place mechanisms to look for fraud up front and to find fraud after the fact.

Our logistics worked well generally, up until 2005. We couldn't imagine how something that big and complicated could happen. It took a process that worked OK and stretched it, and we got to see all the cracks.

American Red Cross-branded product collections will become a powerful tool to help us reach a broad audience with vital safety, health and preparedness messages. Licensed products are a tangible way to bridge the gap between people knowing they should be prepared, and having those people actually taking action to ensure that they are prepared for any emergency, large or small.
