We were attempting to restore the culture of Britain for the British, ... But the English, in particular, aren't comfortable with their own culture. To be taken seriously, it has to come from somewhere else. So we remained a cult band.

We tried not to violate their culture, we tried not to take too many photos. We promised them we'd return. And we did, this year.

The sooner we can implement a program of selling our culture to the uncommitted people of the world as a weapon, the better off we are,

It's an interesting example of the way war shapes a culture.

Their constant outward-looking, their mania for radios, cars, and a thousand other trinkets made them dream and fix their eyes upon the trash of life, made it impossible for them to learn a language which could have taught them to speak of what was in their or others' hearts. The words of their souls were the syllables of popular songs.

People realize that what we have here is a rare scene, a preservation of our culture. And so they come from all over Southern California to be a part of it.
