We will be losing families who have contributed to our communities, ... We will be losing part of our economic welfare, but we will continue to attempt to bolster our community in ways that will make us successful.

We want to offer families the opportunity to rehabilitate their communities.

More of our budget will have to shift to the welfare families. What Congress is doing is going to make it even harder for low-income working parents.

This is not just a job for first-responders, ... They're doing this for their families and their communities. Some of these guys don't want to take a break. They say there's too much work to be done. We're tired. So what? But we've got to look at it, not as a glass half empty, but half full, or we'll miss the positive. We're going to make it through this.

Keokuk has been a melting pot of many religions and ethnic groups, ... We also have had a unique relationship with the Latter-day Saints. On their way to Salt Lake City, they gathered supplies and stayed here. They were responsible for much of the surveying and work on the streets in our town.

It is my opinion that most probably I will be getting a recommendation from my mayor pro tem (today),
