We're entering an enhanced competition for global talent. We have to make sure that the environment for attracting international students is the best it can be. There are still challenges ahead.

The U.S. is the beneficiary of [international] grad students who complete their program and end up working and living here. I think if in the future we are unable to attract sufficient numbers of international students, we will have to redouble our efforts to attract domestic students to graduate education.

This is a hopeful signal that the trend of downturns will reverse. International students play such a large part of graduate education in the U.S.

It's a really tough environment. There's Japanese and Korean competition, and the Chinese are on their way.

I think we've created a much more competitive environment. There is competition in all of the facets of the field.

That was a plus. There was more competition. It made it better for all the students who participated. It makes for more excitement any time you have more teams.
