We're not going to support cuts to domestic programs, and I expect more than a few Republicans will join us on that.

We will support people who have the courtesy to talk to us, and who would stop pitting us against our neighbors. It's horrible.

There is a growing unease, but all the folks I talked to support our troops, want us to win in the Middle East and still trust our military leaders to do the right thing. I think there's some skepticism of our civilian leaders.

It's unfortunate for the Republicans to say if we don't see it their way, we're soft on crime or support the criminals, which is not the case. Many of these bills would appear to make sense, but you have to understand the unintended consequences.

There are a growing number of conservatives and Republicans who, while they support the president and support the war in Iraq, wonder how many of these nation-building wars we're going to engage in and what the parameters of that are.

I know the mayor feels a loyalty to those Republicans that have supported his candidacy and support him now, as well he should. Like, say, Rudy Giuliani. And I understand that, ... But I would hope that people would understand the depth of my feeling about Democrats that have supported me.
