We've always dealt with unruly students. In the past, I think discipline was more severe and perhaps the code of conduct was followed more stringently.

As a district, we're very impressed with the organization the students showed; we appreciate their discipline. The district administrators made an appearance to support them — its shows them we're listening.

We feel the discipline is lax and that the safety of the students is in question.

Manchester needs to address the problem. I think one of the problems is a (lack) of consequences for their actions.

The bottom line is the environment is very different today.

I say to my students we've got DNA but we don't have a device to put to somebody's head to read their mind. What you do is you infer intent from the circumstances.
