We've been here for many years. We work hard. We contribute to the economy of the U.S..

These issues have basically been untouched in this area before. Why is this area the exception? We need to work on educating the public on the struggles of immigrants. We need employers to know what their workers go through just to get here. The plan is to unite everyone on this issue.

If someone is willing to work and they're not negatively impacting the economy, I think they should be allowed to stay. I'm sure there are several undocumented immigrants playing a critical role in rebuilding the Gulf Coast.

The man whose whole life is spent in performing a few simple operations, of which the effects are perhaps always the same, or very nearly the same, has no occasion to exert his understanding or to exercise his invention in finding out expedients for removing difficulties which never occur. He naturally loses, therefore, the habit of such exertion, and generally becomes as stupid and ignorant as it is possible for a human creature to become.

The economy is picking up. You have a lot more people looking for work. That's a good sign.

People did not go to work. People did not shop, did not participate actively in the economy. It was significant.
