You can recycle a used detergent bottle into a bird feeder, ... But at the end of the day, it is still just a detergent bottle hanging from your tree. And so even thought you've recycled it, it's not beautiful.

One lady extended hers out 6 inches to a foot so she could hang a bird feeder on it. But just make sure (the rung) is long enough to nail into it one inch from the end. If you are too close to the end, the wood can split.
