What Canada needs is a shift in focus away from consumption and towards savings and investment,

Canada has recorded a remarkably bad productivity performance. Productivity has been tepid in terms of absolute growth rates and relative to the growth and levels recorded in other major economies. If this continues it will threaten the standard of living of Canadians.

It is premature. We're a vast state with critical needs. If investment is put together in a fragmented way with initiatives by special interest groups, it is going to be haphazard.

I think overnight there was another focus on the bank of Canada statement and it pushed aside the oil sell-off, as monetary policy is probably going to have a longer term role than oil.

Emotional press conferences are not going to settle the issue. Canada needs to come back to the table. We need to close the door, roll up our sleeves and negotiate as need be, with good faith, and bring finality to it.

Our investment thesis is pretty simple: We focus on densely populated, ethnically diverse communities that have an existing mismatch between supply and demand of community-serving retail and affordable housing.
