What they do in the big-business world is fine, but there's room for indies [independent registrars] and that's what we are. It's our turn. We want our things in the same root servers around the world on our own terms.

They want to control it all because if you control the names, the numbers, and the machines, you've got it. The potential for making money and influencing where that money goes is enormous.

To pull together is to avoid being pulled apart.

What kind of business world are we living in?

I find the business world hard.

About 35 percent of our business used to be entry-level buyers. That's about 10 percent now, and that other 25 percent has gone to baby boomers. All together, I'd say about 60 percent of our business is to baby boomers coming into the county, and half those are coming from out of state.
