When I first started working at Colby, my goal had been to start a program here. This proved difficult due to expenses.

It's a great opportunity. I've always dreamed of going from being a student in the program to being a teacher.

The program helps people in community college programs to pursue the opportunities available in highly selective institutions.

I've never really focused on if I had good habits when I sang or if I had bad habits, or if I was breathing correctly. So, I started doing vocal exercises and would stretch out before I sang, stuff to help my breathing. It's funny, you breathe your whole life then you find out you're not doing it correctly.

I like to make Arroz con Gandules, rice with pigeon peas. My husband loves it. It's a Puerto Rican dish my mother taught me.

Some people grab my hair and pull it out. People write on my jeans when I'm on stage. They write on my boots - their phone number, name or whatever.
