When it's windy, that area gets high winds mainly because of the terrain. The winds get pulled through that valley, which allows them to pick up and intensify.

The winds aren't helping, and I guess it's forecasted to be windy again tomorrow — and dry.

The fires in the Meadows caused extensive damage to the area. If the winds were high, we could've seen a catastrophe. Especially to the residential area beyond the Meadows.

When we pulled out on Wednesday, the military had pretty much taken over the area. There were even officers from NYPD and LAPD so the security was really tightening down.

By Wednesday night, we're thinking about one to two feet of new snow in the Cascades -- that's a lot for a 24-hour period.

It does happen on occasion.
