When we first walked in there to eat, we fell in love with it. We've been married for 20 years and we'd always wanted to own a restaurant. It had a good location and we live in Canby so that made it really nice.

The trucks back then didn't have sleepers on them and they would stop here, eat dinner, sleep in one of the cabins and then eat breakfast the next morning. When I-5 opened the truckers weren't coming by as much.

During the war (World War II) when meat was rationed, customers brought meat to the restaurant to keep it going. This was meat from their farms and out of their own homes.

It just keeps it's doors open. It used to be open 24 hours a day. I love some of the stories about when people came 50 years ago, or they came when they were a kid and now they are in their 60s. There is a lot of history here.

Friday's we do prime rib (dinner) and Saturday we do grilled razor clams and oysters (dinner). Everyone seems to love those. They've been a big hit.

They came to us -- we weren't even thinking about it. Someone who lives here asked if we'd like to expand it was too good to pass up.
