When we're dealing with an issue that involves a school and violence, we're going to go in quickly because we're dealing with kids and their safety.

The messages I heard last week was show up, bring your family, bring your children, don't get pulled into violence, there may be people trying to provoke you.

I'd just like to take a moment here to say that I'm totally opposed to violence in the school system. I think that teachers are subjected to a lot of stuff that kids are... Children out there, if you feel so compelled to maim your teacher, I think that's okay, but to really get rough and snuff 'em out, that's tough.

Bullying is a factor in many, if not all, incidents of school violence. If I hear of a shooting in a school, I can immediately describe the shooter because they are predominately white males, have access to guns, and they feel unconnected, left out, shut out.

Every first grade classroom in our school participates and displays a U.S. and world map to record the many adventures of Flat Stanley.

Five days is a long time up there.
