When you look at the projected roster, you get excited. We feel like at least on paper that we've got a chance to not only compete here but also to get some help at the big-league level down the line.

He's the kind of guy who can move quickly because he's got so much ability. We don't have too many guys who throw the ball as hard as he does, and it comes out of his hand easy. He's exciting.

He had a tremendous ERA. His walks [70] were up a little. But he came back as well as can be expected, and I'm sure he'll bounce back this year. He has overall good stuff, and he knows how to pitch. He's a quality lefty who can get people out. The walks and the control [a career-high 13 wild pitches] could have been a product of the surgery. But we're all optimistic that his command issues are behind him.

This is the most excited I have ever been starting a new season and this is the deepest roster of quality kids I have ever had. This is going to be the first time since I have been a head coach that I can start three seniors on the mound, so I am really excited about that.

I didn't feel that great, ... Homers happen when you least expect them. That was the case there.

That's something we'll have to discuss. It's always tough when you have a full roster.
